Why We Stopped Calling Ourselves An Email Agency

Little bit of a different newsletter today…

We're officially shifting from being an "email agency" to being a full retention intelligence partner for every brand we work with.

Doing stuff like:

→ Cohort LTV analysis across different acquisition offers
→ Which products produce the highest quality customers long term
→ Acting as finance partners for our brands
→ Ad funnel insights that feed back into the brand's growth strategy
→ Monthly retention reporting that actually means something with real action items

None of that lives inside Klaviyo. And none of it is getting replaced by AI anytime soon.

We've been working on custom dashboards that show retention data you literally cannot see inside of Shopify, Klaviyo, Recharge, Skio, etc.

For example this view right here tracks cohort LTV broken down by whatever you want… product, customer tag, discount code, etc.

So you can see exactly which products are bringing back the most customers and which ones people buy once and never return.

With that data we can tell brand owners which products to scale ads towards and which ones need a better post-purchase experience.

It changes the whole conversation and our relationship.

We're building towards something bigger than email execution and the retention intelligence layer is becoming more valuable as the emails themselves.

And yes, it is way better than Lifetimely and can do more than Lifetimely and Triplewhale.

Plus it’s a pain to have to jump around different platforms, ask for access, etc etc

But the best part… AI chat to ask any analysis questions 🤫

Imagine the possibilities…

Here's an example of what this actually looks like…

I was digging through cohort data for one of our brands recently and noticed something weird.

Customers acquired on one specific product had 50% higher LTV at month six than customers acquired on their other main product.

But almost all their ad spend was going to the wrong product.

They're now restructuring their entire site and ad funnels around that product instead.

That one conversation probably did more for their business than six months of email campaigns.

THAT is what I mean by retention intelligence.

So moving forward, every brand that comes on with us is getting:

→ Full retention audits
→ Monthly cohort breakdowns and LTV analysis
→ CAC and payback period reporting
→ Ad funnel insights fed back to the brand

We're rolling this out across all current clients as well. We're not just living inside Klaviyo anymore.

Still early in building all of this out and lots to figure out. But this is where we're going and I'm pumped about it.
