This isn’t 2020. Here’s what’s changed:

  • Acquisition costs are spiking. No paid ads aren't dying… they’re just 5x more expensive than before.

  • Customer loyalty is fleeting. Shoppers bounce between 5–10 brands and are always looking for new options.

  • Trust is everything. Your audience has been burned before. One bad experience and they’re gone.

  • Impulse is dead. Sales take multiple touchpoints now. Your job is to create those touchpoints.

3. Segmentation That Actually Works

Please leave hyper-niche segmentation in 2024... In 2025, segmentation should be strategic, not excessive.

Use high-leverage segments like:

  • 14/30/60/90-day engaged → keep deliverability high and spam low.

  • VIPs → high LTV, repeat buyers, or top 10% spenders.

  • Recent website visitors → send them extra content to get them over the age

The biggest mistake is segmenting so tight you only send to 8,000 out of your 60,000-person list.

That’s how you leave revenue on the table.

You don’t need 20 micro-audiences.

You need 3-5 intentional, LARGE segments and a message that actually resonates.

4. Copy and Design That Converts

Email design awards don’t pay the bills. Revenue does.

Copy / Design Principles:

  • Write like a human, not a brochure.

  • Keep under 200 words unless you’re telling a story.

  • Focus on making emails skimmable, people aren’t reading.

  • Keep your messages CLEAR… don’t try to make too many points

  • Keep your emails concise, no one wants a brochure of information.
