Steal These 2 Fun Sale Ideas For Your Next Promo

The Inbox Newsletter

Hey it's Max from The Inbox Newsletter
Got 2 quick sale ideas today that you can steal for your next small promo. Both have been ripping across the brands I've seen run them lately.
Plus they're way more fun to pull off than a typical 24-hour flash sale.
Let's get into it!

The “U Up? Sale”
First up is what I've been calling the "u up?" sale.
Here's how it works.
Late at night (around 9pm or midnight), you send an email with the subject line "u up?"
The body reads like a casual text from a friend pitching a flash discount that expires at midnight. Something like 25% off for the next few hours with a code.
Don't need any formal promo copy or design-heavy hero image here… Just texty vibes that make the send feel like it actually came from a person.

U Up? Email 1
Then the next morning, you send a follow-up with the subject line "u missed it."
All you're really doing here is giving everyone who missed last night's send a reason to still act.
You tell them what dropped last night, and why the code expired at midnight… but reassure them not to stress because there's still a smaller offer on the table.
Something like: "sent out 25% off until midnight last night. If you're reading this you missed it. No stress though, here's 15% off for 24 hours."

U Up? Email 2
You might be thinking this stuff wouldn't work but it actually rips for younger demographics.
And for older demographics or workaholics, you can switch the framing to be a 5am send with a "rise and shine" subject line that treats the discount as a reward for being up early.
Definitely worth testing!
The 2 Part Sale
Next up is a 2-part sale play that BRÈZ pulled off for their anniversary.
Email 1 goes out with a subject line like "first come first serve" that hints at the flash offer without giving it away. Then in your actual email you pitche a free product to the first 5 subscribers who use the code on their next order.
For BRÈZ, the free product was a free pack for their anniversary. Peak FOMO play since only 5 people can actually win.

BREZ Email 1
Then about an hour later, you send Email 2 with the subject line "That went fast."
Your copy will acknowledge that the free products went out fast, then pivot into a smaller offer for everyone else. For BRÈZ, this was $10 store credit as a birthday gift for anyone who missed the first send.

BREZ Email 2
This works so well because you:
Produce peak urgency and scarcity by capping the offer at just 5 people
Capture everyone who missed the first send with a smaller offer you'd probably send to your full list anyway, but now you have a natural excuse to actually do it
Great pattern interrupt from the typical 24-hour flash sale energy your list is used to seeing
And with the end of the year coming up, there's probably a birthday, anniversary, or milestone or two on your calendar you can slot this into.
Try it out yourself!
