Someone Calling Cap On Our Results

So someone saw our post saying we do 80% of store revenue from email + SMS, and dropped a quick "cap" under it.

Cap = lie.
Lie = we’re full of it.
And that = my favorite kind of compliment.

Because if your numbers are so good people don’t believe them… you’re probably doing something right.

Breaking Down the "Unbelievable"

Here’s what the results really are:

  • Email Revenue YTD: $1.28M

  • SMS Revenue YTD: $1.67M

  • Total from Email + SMS: $2.95M

  • Total Store Revenue: $3.67M

  • Percent Of Toal From Email / SMS: 80.37%

Yep. That's 80.38% attributed to retention channels.

And no.

We’re not using some janky custom attribution hack.

This is straight from Klaviyo and Attentive's standard settings, which 95% of brands use.

Now I want to be fully transparent…

I’ll be the first to say that standard attribution settings are generous.

If we tightened the attribution windows to something like 12-hour clicks, of course the number would drop.

But this is the same setup most brands roll with and what this brand wanted us to stick to.

This is a VERY unique situation and these results are NOT normal.

AND we are achieving results after working with this brand for over 1 year… we don’t accomplish these sorts of results in just a couple months.

Here’s some info on the brand:

  • Clothing brand

  • They run plenty of drops, restocks, and limited edition content

  • We push everybody into the email and sms list to stay updated with the high-demand drops

  • The brand crushes it on their end with content and makes our lives easy on the email / sms front

Also… we’re crushing it for them 😉

And the reason we crush?

  • Because our pop-ups convert at nearly 17% of new site visitors to email subscribers

  • Because we’ve built and refined flows that bring in real revenue month after month

  • Because we send clean campaigns that mix in design + text-based emails

  • Because we’ve been doing this and optimizing with them for over a year

I Would NEVER Lie About Our Results

I literally show everything in this breakdown doc.

Every flow. Every campaign. All the numbers.

That’s the opposite of cap.

That’s just what happens when you treat email and SMS like the core of your business and not just a little side channel for holiday promos.
