How To Increase Your Cart Abandon Conversions

The Inbox Newsletter

Hey it’s Max from The Inbox Newsletter.

Quick tactic that works REALLY well in 2026…

Your abandonment flowd should not send the same email to everyone.

A first-time buyer may not trust you yet. They're skeptical and need reassurance.

Returning buyers already know the product is good. They just got distracted and need a reminder to bring them over the finish line.

That's why it doesn't make sense to send them the same email.

Here’s an example of how to handle both:

First-Time Buyer Abandonment

First-Time Buyer Abandonment

In the beginning, you must give people every reason to trust you.

They lead with the welcome discount right at the top. 10% off your first order.

Reminding of the discount gives a huge increase in conversions…

A lot of people forget or don’t want to go to the prior email they received with the code, so they give up… by putting it in their face we make it easier for them.

Then they remind the customer what they're getting:

  • Boost productivity

  • Smooth energy with no crash

  • Zero sugar

These benefits serve as reminders for someone who's still on the fence.

At the bottom: "93% don't experience an energy crash" and "2M+ cans sold worldwide."

Stacking social proof is an effective way to build trust before they buy.

Returning Buyer Abandonment

This email has a very different focus.

"Get back into your focus rhythm."

Notice how they're not selling the product anymore. They're using copy that reinforces their consumption habit.

This email is for someone who has already tried Neutonic and knows it works. “Let's keep that momentum going” energy.

Instead of pushing the discount, they push the subscription. Save 10-20%, auto-ships on your schedule, free gifts, early access to drops.

The whole email assumes you already trust the product and nudges you to finish what you started.

Why this matters: Most brands send the same abandonment email to everyone and leave money on the table.

First-time buyers need proof (and a reminder on the welcome discount) but returning buyers need a reminder.

Segment your flows accordingly.

Notes:
One of the cleaner emails I've seen recently, this is how all emails should look and flow. The use of icons along with the CTA at the top and bottom is perfect. Love the flow.
