How To Get MORE Positive Reviews and LESS Negative Reviews

The Inbox Newsletter

Hey it’s Max from The Inbox Newsletter.

Happy Memorial Day.

Today, I'm sharing a quick hack for getting more positive reviews from your customers…

And more importantly less negative reviews.

Most brands send a review request email after purchase that just says something like "how did you enjoy your order? Leave us a review" and links straight to the review page.

The problem is you're sending EVERYBODY to leave reviews...

Happy customers and unhappy ones.

And the unhappy ones are way more motivated to leave a review than the happy ones.

But what if you could lead unhappy people to your support team and happy people to your reviews page to actually leave a review?

Instead of linking straight to the review page, you can put your star rating directly in the email.

Something like "How was your experience? Rate us below" with clickable stars from 1 to 5.

  • If someone clicks 1, 2, or 3 stars, you route them to customer support or a private feedback form.

  • And if someone clicks 4 or 5 stars, you send them straight to your public review page. These are the people you actually want leaving reviews.

That way, low review folks never see the public review page.

You catch the issue, fix it, and save the relationship before they blast you publicly.

The same email and audience… but you're filtering who actually makes it to the review page.

How to structure review request email links

Set this up once and it runs forever inside your review request flow.

Notes:
Super creative email editing a Nutrition Facts label for a nasal strip product. It stops the scroll because the format is instantly recognizable but completely out of place, and it turns the product's benefits into a list you can scan in seconds.

Reply to this email if you have any questions or further content you want covered.
