Email Tactics You Can Send For Your Ecommerce Brand

The Inbox Newsletter

Hey it's Max from The Inbox Newsletter.

There have been some fresh ecom email angles popping up lately in my inbox, and I've been saving the best ones to break down here.

Some are full email formats, and some are just clever sections…but all of them are worth stealing for your account.

Here are 5 of my favorites plus how you can actually use each one.

Let's get into it!

1) The Puzzle Piece Hero

Viral TikTok health hacks are everywhere right now (detox shots for abs, random powders for glowing skin, you know the vibe).

This brand addressed one of those trends head-on with a unique Us vs Them visual, showing the scattered chaos of following random TikTok advice vs their own clean, all-in-one formula.

Love how the visual on this does all the heavy lifting for the messaging. And the yellow "Build My Formula" CTA is a great example of using high-contrast colors to make the click almost impossible to miss.

Steal this if your category is loud, confusing, or has a bunch of copycat competitors your brand can position against.

Chaos vs Clarity Section

2) A Letter To Yourself

We've all seen founder letters and they consistently work, but this brand went one step further… They wrote a personal thank-you letter FROM the customer, TO their own liver, styled like a torn note coming out of a mailbox.

This is genius because it reframes the purchase as a small kindness the customer is doing for themselves instead of another product being pushed at them. That’s some great future pacing in the copy!

Steal this if your product ties into any part of the customer's health, routine, or self-improvement journey.

Handwritten Letter

3) A Better Way To Do Problem / Solution

Problem/solution emails are one of the best formats you can run in ecom, but most of them just list problems as a boring bullet list.

This brand mapped every haircare problem (itchy scalp, split ends, tangles, dry scalp, dandruff, greasy hair) onto a tic tac toe grid where 3 shampoo bottles form the winning diagonal.

Our brains naturally want to complete visual patterns like this, so reader eyes lock in immediately and follow the diagonal to "win."

Much more effective than a basic list of features…

Steal this if your product solves 3+ overlapping problems in a category and no single benefit headline covers them all.

Tic Tac Toe Format

4) The Text Bubble

Another great us vs them table but this time in the form of text messages.

This skincare brand ran a "Your Problems / The Solution" split where the left column had customer complaints written as lowercase text bubbles ("i have dark circles :(", "dry skin too?", "dark spots screaming 'help!'") numbered to match products on the right.

Bonus: the complaints they used are the exact things people Google when searching for skincare.

So all you really need to do is a quick keyword search on what your customers are typing into google and repurpose those questions as text bubbles.

Steal this if you want to make your customer feel like you’re saying what they’re thinking out loud….

Text Bubble Us VS Them

5) Customer Review Pattern Interrupt

This electrolyte brand ran one of the best pattern interrupts I've seen in a while.

The hero looks like a real customer review at first… but then the "0 stars" hits and you have to re-read it.

You then have to realize the review is from Dehydration itself, aka the exact problem the brand actively fights against lol.

Love this because the re-read from the customer is what earns the attention on the click.

The reader starts processing the hero as another testimonial, but once they read the copy, the joke clicks (literally) and they end up on the site.

Steal this if you want to break through in a saturated inbox by disguising your creative as a format the reader already trusts.
