Copy Maxxing Your Hero Sections

The Inbox Newsletter

Hey it's Max from The Inbox Newsletter.
You ever wonder why some emails get tons of clicks but barely any sales?
Most often this happens because you don’t give them enough reason to buy.
Many brands hear “put a button in your hero section” and think that’s enough…
And while that gets clicks, it doesn't get sales because the customer hasn't been given a real reason to actually buy yet.
Today, I'm going to walk you through how to fix that so the clicks you get are actually high-intent ones.
Let's get into it.

For a customer to actually click a button in your email AND buy on your site, they need two things:
A reason to click.
A reason to click with the intent to buy.
A CTA button on its own gets you clicks…
Nut a lot of those clicks come from customers who are just clicking to click. They haven't been given enough info to actually want to buy yet.
So they land on your site, look around for a few seconds, and bounce…
The fix is copy maxxing your hero section.
It just means giving the customer more real and valuable copy at the top of the email before the CTA.
Now, you’re giving them valuable reasons to click, showing off product benefits, and important context that makes them want to buy before they ever hit the button.

Copy Maxxed vs Not
A copy-maxxed hero may look like a lot of text at first, but if it's actually strong and compact, it gives the customer everything they need to know before hitting the button.
Which means the customers who DO click are way more likely to convert.
When To Copy Maxx
Copy-maxxed hero sections work great across almost every campaign and flow you send, but especially for:
1) Educational campaigns
The more you teach the customer inside the email, the higher the click-to-buy rate on your site.

2) Post-purchase flows
Customers are open to hearing more from you right after buying, so the hero is prime real estate for cross-sells and reviews.

3) Winback flows
The customer already knows the brand, so a copy-maxxed hero is your chance to remind them exactly why they should come back and buy again.

And there you have it, copy maxxing in a nutshell. Try it out and A/B test it in your next big campaign 🧪.
