5 Black Friday/Cyber Monday Stats That’ll Make You More Money

The Inbox Newsletter

Hey it’s Max from The Inbox Newsletter.
Everyone’s screaming different information about Black Friday / Cyber Monday…
But the data tells us everything we need to know.
Here's what you actually need to know to milk every dollar out of BFCM.
Key Takeaways:
Cyber Monday outperformed Black Friday in total sales in 2024… plan for the entire two weeks, not just Friday.
Automations drove 30% of all email sales in 2024 with only 3% of total sends.
Email converts better than SMS, but both serve unique strategic roles.
Peak send times matter, schedule your BFCM emails and texts precisely.
A custom welcome flow during BFCM can convert up to 64% of new leads.
2024 Black Friday / Cyber Monday Quick Stats
This isn’t guesswork. All of these insights are pulled straight from Omnisend’s 2024 BFCM performance data… tens of millions of emails and SMS messages tracked across ecommerce brands.
I dug into the numbers and pulled out what matters for you 👇
1. Cyber Monday > Black Friday $$
This one caught me off guard:
Black Friday brought in $10.8B in 2024
Cyber Monday brought in $13.3B in 2024
Most brands overinvest in Friday and forget Monday even exists.
Don’t. Keep your offers strong and consistent through Cyber Week.
Keep volume up and make sure you give Cyber Monday just as much attention!
2. Timing Is Everything (Literally)
Black Friday:
Emails: 8 AM sends dominated. Generated one-third more orders than any other hour.
SMS: Noon had most clicks than other hours, but purchases mostly happened before noon. Send texts around 10 AM.
Cyber Monday:
Emails: Orders peaked 12–3 PM.
SMS: Best purchase window? 10 AM–12 PM.
Use these insights to help you schedule your emails.
3. Automations = Pure Money
Automated flows made up only 3% of email sends…
But accounted for 30% of total email orders.
That’s a 10x efficiency multiplier.
✅ Your welcome, cart, and winback flows should all be BFCM-optimized. These should not be your regular evergreen flows. Inject urgency, update copy/designs, and make sure your BFCM offers are clear.
4. Email Converted Better Than SMS
Email: 1.13B sent with an 8.22% click-to-conversion rate
SMS: 19.1M sent with 3.64% click-to-conversion
SMS shines when speed matters (flash sales, drops, last calls).
But it seems as though the email clickers are higher intent than sms clickers.
Use SMS for your high urgency campaigns and send more emails than texts.
5. The Welcome Flow Is King
Check these BFCM automation stats:
Welcome flow: 63.66% conversion rate
Abandoned cart: 44.57% conversion rate
That 64% welcome flow conversion tells you one thing: New traffic is coming. You need a BFCM-specific popup and welcome flow to convert this flood of cold traffic into buyers.
Having a BFCM pop-up and welcome flow is a huge opportunity to grow your list and convert new buyers, don’t blow this opportunity!
If you need help with pop-up forms and optimizing them, I just dropped a new YouTube tutorial the other day. Check it out below.
